The Problem
Uganda has made remarkable progress in digital inclusion, but fundamental challenges persist in technology access and usage for rural youth. According to UNICEF, around 90% of adolescents in low-income countries, including Uganda, are not using the internet, with rural youth facing the greatest barriers due to limited infrastructure and affordability. This highlights the urgent need to bridge the digital divide in Uganda.
We are a force of change, driven by the belief that every young person, regardless of where they come from, deserves the opportunity to thrive in the digital age.
Why Tech
In rural Africa, only about 28% of people have access to the internet, leaving many without essential digital tools. The gap is even wider for women, with only 19% having access to technology.
This lack of technology hinders education, job opportunities, and access to vital information. Youth from poor families, refugees, teenage mothers, orphans and survivors of sexual abuse face even more significant barriers, struggling to access education, job opportunities, and essential resources.
